In an effort to bring strength, stability and self-reliance to our community, Albany Area Habitat for Humanity has adopted an Owner-Occupied Repair Program, which will enable us to serve more families and allow us to be more relevant in neighborhoods that may have needs other than new housing.

Our repair activities include a modest array of home preservation, and critical home repair.

  1. Home Preservation (also known as A Brush With Kindness): Exterior work that includes painting, patching minor repair, landscaping and replacement of exterior building materials for maintaining good or sound condition.    Examples include:  window repair (new screen, glass, glazing), minor siding and trim repair, board replacement in porch, stair or ramp, door replacement, brush/junk removal.
  2. Critical Home Repair: Window/door replacement, Porch or wheelchair ramp replacement.

Non-Covered Repairs:  Roofing work of any kind; Repairs on the second or upper story of a home; Work on homes (including manufactured or mobile) built prior to 1978; Work on homes that require foundation repair, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, siding, flooring or wall reconstruction/installation.

All interested Homeowners will be required to complete an online repair request form.  There are no deadlines or closed periods for the repair program.  If you do not have access to a computer and/or the internet, you can request a paper repair request form to either pick up at our office or have mailed to their current residence.  Please click here to complete the online request form.
